Susquehanna River Report 06/20/2018

Writer's picture: Nicholas RaftasNicholas Raftas

We are so happy to be back fly fishing the Susquehanna River for smallmouth bass. It's personally my favorite time of the year. I love trading the waders and boots for shorts and flip flops and the warm weather, although this week has been a bit rainy and cool still. The water was a bit high and stained for my first day guiding after the bass opener. We fished in the Liverpool area and picked up a fish here and there on poppers and Clouser Minnows. The clients wanted to be off the water by 7:00 pm... as I was pulling the boat out I could see Sulphurs and Cahills emerging everywhere and smallmouth were coming up to the surface to eat them. Sometimes you need to tough it out and wait for the good fishing to happen.
